School-Based Health Centers
Often, children and adolescents will exhibit uncharacteristic behaviors that may be directly associated with neuro/physiological (physical) problems. It is recommended that parents take their student to their private doctor for a thorough physical examination to make sure they are physically healthy prior to considering behavioral health care.
School-Based Health Centers strive to address all of the health care needs of students … because healthy kids learn better! SBHCs provide professional medical care as well as mental health/substance abuse screening, assessment, treatment and group/family counseling. While located on the campuses of the county's four high schools, SBHCs are private healthcare facilities and therefore do not share information with school staff.
Behavioral Health staff is available at each site a limited number of hours each week. Due to limited hours, not all referrals can be accepted. Health Services Advocates (HSA) at each SBHC are available to assist students and families in finding other sources for care.
